BIM Management

Management of BIM models for complex construction projects

We help developers, project managers, chief engineers and lead architects organize BIM models, project data and consultant collaboration through professional BIM management.

Give your team access to reliable project information, simplify collaboration, and eliminate time spent searching for models, checking versions, or solving information management problems.

Advantages

  • Protect the budget → speed up project implementation → Reduce the risk of revisions
  • We work with projects developed in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Current BIM models and reliable project data
  • Effective cooperation between all consultants and project stakeholders
  • More time for project management and communication with clients

Why BIM management?

Why do modern construction projects need BIM management?

Modern construction projects involve dozens of consultants, hundreds of drawings, several BIM models and constant changes in design. Architects, design engineers and MEP consultants simultaneously work in different disciplines, regularly updating their models and project documentation.

Creating a BIM model is only the first step. Successful project implementation requires organized information management, standardized work processes and reliable cooperation between all project participants.

BIM management organizes digital models, project data and information processes: establishes common standards, manages revisions and ensures that each consultant works with the latest approved project information throughout the design process.

BIM management enables:

Maintain a single, up-to-date source of project information

Control model revisions and project changes

Standardize the working processes of consultants

Increase the transparency of the BIM process

Minimize the risk of using outdated models and documentation

Create a solid foundation for effective BIM coordination

Without effective BIM management typical project problems appear

Without a structured BIM management process, construction projects often face the same typical challenges:

  • Different consultants work with different versions of the models
  • Project information quickly becomes outdated
  • Files and documentation are duplicated
  • History of revisions is lost or difficult to track
  • Different teams follow different modeling standards
  • Project managers lose sight of overall design progress

Why ISO 19650 recommends a Common Data Environment (CDE)

To solve these problems, ISO 19650 recommends managing project information through a common data environment (CDE), where all project participants work with structured, controlled and up-to-date information.

A properly organized CDE reduces errors, eliminates confusion due to multiple versions of models, and ensures effective collaboration across the entire project team.

The more consultants involved in the project, the more critical centralized information management becomes.

Scope of service

What is included in the BIM management service?

At Ziggurat, BIM management is a continuous process of managing project data, consultants and information processes throughout the project lifecycle.

We seamlessly integrate into your project team to establish stable BIM processes and ensure the efficient operation of the entire BIM environment.

Our BIM management service includes:

1. Configuring the Common Data Environment (CDE)

Creating a project structure in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360, setting up folders, user access rights and connecting all project participants.

2. Development of a BIM Execution Plan (BEP)

Development of a BIM Execution Plan (BEP), including modeling standards, model structure, information requirements and collaboration procedures in accordance with ISO 19650.

3. BIM model quality control

Checking the structure of the model and compliance with project requirements and BIM standards.

Establish consistent rules for model generation, families, parameters, coordinates, levels of detail (LOD), and information structure.

4. Management of versions and statuses of models

Ensuring that each consultant is working with the latest approved model, monitoring the readiness of the model to coordinate BIM and construction documents.

5. Coordination of consultants and support of the BIM process

Onboarding new consultants, supporting project users, monitoring BIM requirements and ensuring consistent implementation of established BIM processes.

6. Preparation of models for system coordination

Verification of the complete readiness of the models for coordination and integration into the federated model without excessive rework.

Project data

project data management in BIM

A common data environment for the entire project team

Successful project implementation depends not only on high-quality BIM models, but also on how effectively project information is disseminated, managed and supported.

That is why Ziggurat organizes project collaboration through a common data environment (CDE), where all consultants work with the latest approved models, drawings and project documentation.

We implement and manage cloud-based collaboration environments, providing access control, model versioning, revision history, and effective collaboration between all project participants.

We work with projects developed in

Autodesk Revit
AutoCAD

Cloud platforms for collaboration

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
BIM 360
Autodesk Docs
Autodesk Revit Cloud Worksharing
Other Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms as per customer requirements

Our approach includes the implementation of a common data environment (CDE), user access management, standardized workflows and the implementation of a BIM execution plan (BEP) to establish a single BIM process in the project.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

BIM modeling is the creation of the models themselves. Coordination of systems — search and elimination of conflicts between models of different disciplines. BIM management is a higher level: organizing the process, standards, common data environment and the work of all consultants so that modeling and coordination are generally possible and agreed.

Systems coordination works with models — it detects and eliminates intersections between structures and engineering networks. BIM management works with the process: who releases information, when and under what rules, in what environment it is stored, how versions and quality are controlled. Coordination is one of the disciplines within the managed BIM process.

The best moment is at the start of the project, together with the formation of the BEP and the setting up of the common data environment: then the standards apply from the first model. But you can get involved at any stage — we conduct an audit of existing models and processes and build management from the current state.

Those where many consultants and many engineering systems work at the same time: residential buildings, commercial and public buildings, industrial and medical facilities, infrastructure. The more disciplines and changes in the project, the greater the effect.

Yes. We support projects in both Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, using our own parametric 3D modeling methodology. A complete migration to Revit is not required for this.

Not necessarily. ACC is just one option for a shared data environment. We also work with BIM 360, Autodesk Docs, Revit Cloud Worksharing and other platforms according to the customer's requirements — or we help choose the one that suits a specific project.

This is the only place where all current project information is stored: models, drawings, documentation and their version history. CDE removes the situation where commands work with different copies of files and makes it transparent which version is valid.

This is a normal situation for large projects. We agree on exchange formats (in particular IFC), export rules and frequency of releases, so that models from different consultants are gathered into one unified model, regardless of what they are made in.

According to the rules agreed in the BEP: verification of compliance with standards of naming and structure, level of elaboration (LOD), geometry and attributes, as well as regular checks for collisions. Results are captured in reports and fixes are tracked to closure.

Yes, mainly due to the fact that the errors are at the design stage, and not at the site. Fewer collisions and rework, less downtime and changes during construction, more accurate volumes of materials.

Yes. We start with an audit of existing models, standards and data environments, and then gradually bring the process to uniform rules, without stopping the work of teams. The experience of large international projects allows you to enter the work quickly.

It provides common rules for teams from different countries: uniform standards (ISO 19650), a single BEP, a common data environment and a clear issuing procedure. We have project experience in Israel, Europe and the USA and work as an independent BIM partner between all participants.

To get a dedicated team with ready-made methodologies and expertise without maintaining your own BIM department. An independent BIM manager is also not affiliated with any of the consultants, so he can demand the same quality from all project participants.
